East Gippsland's ANZACs
To commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the commencement of World War 1, HNEG member groups are working with local RSL and Red Cross branches to record the names and stories of all East Gippslanders who served.
Information is being gathered from major centres and small, isolated communities across the Shire. Honour boards, war memorials, private diaries, photographs and oral histories will all be utilised, in addition to the records available through the Australian War Memorial and the Australian National Archives.
A publication featuring these stories is scheduled for official launch on 25 April 2015 – the centenary of the battle at Gallipoli.
